CEDEM CEE 2011

It's been a year of mixed signals for the property sector. On the positive side, there have been credible signals of growth returning to some of Europe's economies. From a CEE perspective, Germany's improvement has been the most encouraging, since the knock-on effect for this region is substantial. Poland and the Czech Republic in particular have seen GDP numbers rising, even if employment has remained stubbornly higher than would be best. New development is still scarce, but the volume of investment deal has been rising. However, the continuing Euro crisis has put a damper on the levels of optimism and while most banks are claiming to be open for real estate lending, the conditions they now require are difficult for developers to meet. This year's CEDEM CEE 2011 will bring together leading investors, developers, bankers and consultancies for a series of panels and debates in order to look for signs of improvement and to identify which opportunities and risks the crisis is creating.
